Veterinary Practice Broker | Business Broker | Commercial Broker

Dr. Sheila Fitzpatrick, founder of VP Veterinary Advisors and VP Veterinary Recruiters, hails from Ellicottville, a charming ski town in upstate New York, just south of Buffalo. Her early years were marked by a deep love for skiing, leading her to become one of the top ten downhill skiers in the United States. She now resides in the scenic town of Vail, Colorado, with her daughter and actively competes in Cutting Horse Competitions as a member of the NCHA.

Dr. Fitzpatrick earned a BS in Veterinary Science from Colorado State University in 1987 and a DVM from the Colorado State College of Veterinary Medicine in 1991. She began her career as a practice consultant for the American Animal Hospital Association in 1991, working on Veterinary Practice Benchmarking and Veterinary Practice Valuations.

In 1993, Dr. Fitzpatrick established her veterinary practice in the Vail Valley of Colorado, which she successfully ran until 2021 when she sold the thriving four-DVM practice to a renowned corporate aggregator. Alongside her full-time veterinary practice, she ventured into commercial real estate, acquiring, designing, developing, and managing a multi-tenant commercial property. While working for a corporate aggregator, Dr. Fitzpatrick assisted with the creation and execution of veterinary externship programs and helped procure new prospects for acquisitions, working with selling DVMS through the acquisition process.

Dr. Fitzpatrick attributes her success as a practice owner and consultant to her many years as a member of the Veterinary Management Group, an association of accomplished veterinary hospital owners across the United States. This group is dedicated to enhancing the long-term success of veterinary hospitals by offering exclusive insights, resources, and management training, focusing on areas such as marketing, design, development, growth, valuation, and sales of veterinary practices.

Dr. Fitzpatrick received her real estate licensure in December of 2022, her CEPA(Certified Exit Planner Advisor) in February of 2023, and her CVA (Certified Valuation Analyst) from NACVA in August of 2023. "Working with Sheila on the purchase of our second practice was wonderful.

It felt like every day there was always some crisis or new thing that no one expected but Sheila was always on top of solving it. She came with research, data, and solutions and she has never met a dead end. And as a bonus, she is always kind and professional and cares a great deal about what she does. I thoroughly enjoyed working with her and I would hands down use Sheila as a broker again."

"Sheila was wonderful at helping me through the process of selling my practice.

I would never have gotten the deal I did without her help. She shepherded me through meetings with my veterinary accountant and lawyer, as well as all the communications with the corporations and mounds of reports and paperwork. I feel lucky to have met her!"

Nan Boss DVM, Best Friends Veterinary Center
