"I recently sold my small but well established 1 1/2 doctor veterinary practice largely due to the skill and expertise of Sheila Fitzpatrick of VP Vet Advisors. When looking for a broker I seriously considered larger, more local and better known brokers but Sheila came highly recommended as a 'hands on, very personal' broker. I’m so glad that I chose her. She laid out a clear plan of what she needed from me and she worked hard and quickly to pull the package together. She marketed my practice enthusiastically and well and brought me the right kinds of buyers. She filtered out the tire kickers and discussed prospective buyers with me-giving me the choice of who to talk to.
Initially I had concerns that she was located in Colorado because I am located in Massachusetts but she was always available and kept in touch well. For example, early on she did a video walk through of my practice on a Sunday evening after she had spent the day with her family! As a previous vet she got that I worked long days and that I likely would only be available for calls in the late evening or early morning. That was never a problem.

As a solo veterinary practitioner for 37 years I needed help finding a way to sell my practice and building. I had heard and seen first hand stories of solo veterinary practitioners not being able to find a buyer so they just close the doors one day. My goal was to sell to an individual and not a large corporation or private equity firm. When I shared my goals with some brokers they told me it would be very difficult for a solo practitioner and I may just have to sell my equipment and close the business.
